We make how your product actually runs visible, then build the agents that act on it.
Bolt-On Techworks started with a simple frustration: companies were spending fortunes on CRMs, ERPs, and best-in-class software, and still couldn't answer basic questions about how their own business was running. We started this company to fix that.
As infrastructure and service consultants, we ran into the same thing at the beginning of nearly every engagement. We kept watching great companies make decisions on gut feel and outdated spreadsheets, not because they didn't have the data, but because it was scattered across ten systems that never talked to each other. Bolt-On Techworks is the layer that finally connects it all and makes it make sense.
Give every company X-ray vision into how it operates, and agents that act on what they see.
No matter what tools you run today, whether a major CRM, a homegrown ERP, or a product line no one's touched in years, we believe you should be able to see it, understand it, and put custom AI agents to work inside it in real time.
Who we are
Dave Charles has spent more than 20 years running operations, enterprise IT, infrastructure, and cybersecurity across government, legal, healthcare, education, industry, and managed services. He has owned multi-million-dollar technology budgets, built and led high-performing teams, modernized enterprise infrastructures, stood up and run data centers, and sustained high-availability networks across 24x7x365 operations.
In 1995 he co-designed and built the first paid music download system in the world at SightSound.com, which went on to sell the first movie ever downloaded, years before commercial digital distribution was common.
As a Director of IT, Director of Operations, and Chief Operating Officer, he has built the governance, tiered service models, and metrics-driven operating frameworks that turn scattered, disparate systems into accountable, scalable ones. He was a Pittsburgh Technology Council CIO of the Year finalist in 2017 and holds an MBA and BBA from Point Park University, both with high honors.
With over 25 years of IT and Architecture experience across most verticals, Stephen brings a senior level amount of technical, organizational, and architectural knowledge that allows him to see the whole picture, and find every rabbit hole. This allows small strategic gains to grow into transforming activities, without disrupting current data. Stephen earned his BS in Information Science and Technology as well as his MPS in Enterprise Architecture and Business Transformation, both from Penn State.
The principles behind everything we build.
-
01
Clarity over complexity
Visibility tools should make things simpler to understand, not add another dashboard nobody opens.
-
02
Built to bolt on, not rebuild
You've already invested in your systems. We connect to what you have instead of asking you to replace it.
-
03
Insight only counts if it's actionable
Data for data's sake is noise. Everything we surface is built to lead to a decision or an action.
-
04
Every system, no exceptions
CRM, ERP, custom-built, decades old: if it runs part of your business, it belongs in the picture.
